Organic Formations

The exhibition revolves around the exploration of the imperfections inherent in nature. Nature is abundant with patterns and shapes that defy strict mathematical or geometrical principles, embracing uniqueness and lack of exactitude. Formosa draws inspiration from this internal complexity and the absence of straight lines in nature. The artist delves into the pursuit of perfection within the captivating imperfections found in the natural world, expanding minute patterns to significant scales and reproducing them in his works.

The exhibition takes viewers on a captivating journey through the exploration of natural forms. It showcases an evolution of styles, starting from grid cages and frameworks or concealed natural carcasses which might be found beneath outer layers, gradually transforming into more grander pieces that sometimes appear to engulf and assimilate other elements, forming almost superstructures.

Another series of artworks adopts a more sinuous and sensual approach to these forms, highlighting the outer layers of blob-like shapes that appear to be undulating while maintaining their structural integrity.

Using a series of experimental glazes, Formosa imbues these ceramic structures with mood and soul, enhancing their visual impact and emotive resonance which together with the selected mediums become conduits for translating the conceptual exploration into three-dimensional reality, delivering a silent yet resonant call to reconnect with nature.
